This week I got to observe and awesome science lesson being taught. You can check out a description of the lesson in the link below. In this the teacher was able to added excitement but not thoroughly explaining how to calculate speed before allowing them the opportunity to start their project. By doing this see kept them all engaged because they wanted to know how to calculate their speed and didn't have all of the pieces to do it yet. I think this is an excellent way to keep them engaged especially when most of our class tries to work ahead. Also because this was a science based lesson she didn't look at the actual number they were getting for speed just that that were representing it properly. (The correct units in time and distance). They also worked on problems where they had to determine time and distance rather than speed. In these she just looked to see that the students understood what was the problem was asking them to find. In order to do a quick assessment she had the students label all of their problems with the provided and which piece was missing. This lesson had many great components to it that I hope to be able to include in when i get to teach science next week.
